About me
My journey in sports, health and fitness started in 2007, when commencing my training in Muay Thai Kickboxing, and since then, I have been continuing my training. My training consists of weight training, calisthenics (bodyweight) exercises, running, and more. When starting my Wing Chun journey, I visited Hong Kong and trained at the Ving Tsun Athletic Association (VTAA), participating in Wing Chun gatherings which consisted of different Wing Chun schools demonstrating and sharing their knowledge of the martial art.
I started my career as a Sports Therapist in 2017 when starting my degree and completing in 2020, gaining valuable knowledge in human anatomy, physiology and pathology, sports and exercise science, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, research, and more. During my time studying my degree, I had participated in various sporting events, providing soft tissue massage, taping, injury assessments and recovery.
When the commonwealth games were held in 2022, It gave me an amazing opportunity to apply to volunteer to gain new and valuable knowledge. I was accepted to participate as a volunteer as a sports massage therapist. My primary role was to provide soft tissue massage and recovery; however, I had provided injury assessment, kinesiology taping and strapping and taping for joint stability. After the games, I decided to complete a foundation in Acupuncture to increase my knowledge and be able to use these skills with future clients. Then by 2023, I had completed my level 3 Personal Trainer course.
I have continued my journey in education, applying for my Master’s degree in Strength, Conditioning and Performance, using the knowledge I gained to implement in my rehabilitation, as well as coaching for sports, or just for daily living. I am now coaching a group strength session in a clinic, helping the group to develop throughout their journey to accomplish their journey in getting stronger, fitter and healthy.
I have treated many athletes in various sports, meeting a diverse and talented number of individuals with different needs and physical capabilities. Some athletes were amputees whom had their own diverse challenges. I have learned much from these athletes, not just how to approach them in a rehabilitative perspective, but about the athlete themselves and their personal journey.
I will continuing my journey in Wing Chun learning the wooden dummy, butterfly swords and long pole forms, whilst also continuing my journey in martial arts. At the same time, I assist my family members with pain management for osteoarthritis, rehabilitating shoulder injuries, coaching groups and 1-2-1 strength sessions, and assisting in coaching Wing Chun.
